SprayVIEW® Spray Pattern & Plume Geometry Measurement Instrumentation

The Patented Industry Leader

Proveris’s SprayVIEW® instrumentation established the standard now recommended by the FDA for automated spray pattern and plume geometry measurement testing of spray and aerosol delivered drugs. The patented technology provides pharmaceutical laboratories with the instrumentation needed to conduct accurate, consistent spray pattern and plume geometry tests of nasal and oral sprays, and metered dose inhalers.

SprayVIEW instrumentation features include:

  • Replication of hand actuation parameters, using an integrated Vereo® automated actuator, synchronized with image acquisition
  • Direct, non-intrusive structured light source illumination eliminates the need for chemical additives or TLC plates
  • Digital camera acquires images at up to ~500 frames per second at 256 x 256 x 8-bit resolution
  • Optical encoder eliminates the need for mechanical measurement of light source-to-nozzle distance

Powered by Proveris’s Viota Software Platform

SprayVIEW instrumentation operates through Proveris’s Viota® software platform, which automatically validates and calibrates the instruments. Step-by-step instructions guide users through developing test methods, performing tests, and then recording and reporting the data in FDA-preferred formats.

Spray pattern measurements include:

  • Dmin, Dmax
  • Center of gravity
  • Center of mass
  • Area
  • Ovality

Plume geometry measurements include:

  • Plume angle
  • Plume width
  • Delay time
